Fire in My Heart is the unique and touching account of one woman's spiritual journey and of the grace she eventually and unexpectedly received from the Source. Had it not been for Nandini's readiness after years of seeking spirituality in the worldly wilderness, this story would have no message for the reader. Reader reviews:
This is the story of an unusual life, full of exotic locations and colourful characters, which is captivating enough in itself but is given an added interest by the author's internal journey, narrated in poetic and evocative words. Always trying to learn more and know more, Nandini describes how she used her rich and varied travels and experiences as an artist, actress, dancer, stage director and musician to find the answers she was looking for. After a lifetime of "seeking spirituality in the worldly wilderness", the book comes to an unexpected and beautifully presented conclusion. Includes poems, photographs, beautiful artwork. The story is presented in an innovative design and layout that is enjoyable to look at and serves well to enhance and support the underlying message of the story.
Katharina, Frankfurt, Germany-
Fire In My Heart is a spiritual autobiography of the best kind. A tale told without pretension, yet informed by the numinous. Nandini’s tale is unusual in that she experienced illumination late in life, yet had always lived her life in pursuit of the Beloved.
“This life has been one long road to the Centre, my Centre.”
Nandini’s father was an Anglican vicar, whose family had lived in India for many generations, whilst her mother was the daughter of missionaries. Both parents had a great interest in spiritual matters, with a regular flow of esoteric visitors to the family home in Gloucestershire, including Indian yogis and other spiritual seekers. As a result, Nandini was familiar with a wide variety of spiritual concepts from an early age and was aware of mystery from childhood. In her early twenties, she married her husband, Godfrey, and gave birth to two sons. The couple had deep spiritual interests and became involved in the Baha’i Faith, which took them to India, where Godfrey taught at two Baha’i schools. Nandini had been attracted to dance and music from an early age and she had the opportunity to study with a variety of wonderful teachers throughout her life, especially in India.
Many extraordinary experiences are related over a thirty year period of her adulthood and yet it is evident that there is a continual restlessness, an inability to settle, which could be interpreted as the call of the Beloved. Nandini is given access to many different spiritual and artistic disciplines, yet none are fully able to hold her attention.
Then, there is a sense of acceleration, visions, beckonings....
“I began to ‘feel’ connected to the very fabric of life itself.”
synchronicities gathering, unstoppable momentum until
“The next moment…
No more moments…”
This is a classic account of the descent of grace and immersion in the ocean of formlessness. Where questions no longer arise and identity dissolves into being. Recommended reading.Mike Jones, Glastonbury, Somerset, UK (published in The Oracle magazine)
